The ride uphill only is an adventure by itself, the incredible steepness of the volcano guarantees a spectacular 4x4 ride. You will see coffee plantations and later on the cloud forest. The views are spectacular from here. When you arrive at the top at 1,200 mts the temperature will have dropped significantly and the humidity will be high. It’s always windy, so be sure to bring an extra sweater. At the top there is a tourist center which houses maps, photos, models, souvenirs, and more interesting material. There is also a cafeteria where you can get a small meal and drinks, use the bathroom. The Mombacho volcano has four craters. All of the craters are covered with cloud forest and you can walk around one of the craters, or hike around several craters. Besides lots of different trees and plants that thrive because of the cloud forests humidity you can also observe howler and white face monkeys, as well as snakes, deer, reptiles, birds, and insects.

Granada Islets Tour – One of the most popular tours in Granada is the islets. These are a group of 365 small islands scattered about the Asese peninsula. The islets are of volcanic origin; they were formed when the Mombacho volcano blew much of its cone into the lake thousands of years ago, thereby creating the archipelago. The ride uphill only is an adventure by itself, the incredible steepness of the volcano guarantees a spectacular 4x4 ride. You will see coffee plantations and later on the cloud forest. The views are spectacular from here. When you arrive at the top at 1,200 mts the temperature will have dropped significantly and the humidity will be high. It’s always windy, so be sure to bring an extra sweater. At the top there is a tourist center which houses maps, photos, models, souvenirs, and more interesting material. There is also a cafeteria where you can get a small meal and drinks, use the bathroom. The Mombacho volcano has four craters. All of the craters are covered with cloud forest and you can walk around one of the craters, or hike around several craters. Besides lots of different trees and plants that thrive because of the cloud forests humidity you can also observe howler and white face monkeys, as well as snakes, deer, reptiles, birds, and insects.

Granada Islets Tour – One of the most popular tours in Granada is the islets. These are a group of 365 small islands scattered about the Asese peninsula. The islets are of volcanic origin; they were formed when the Mombacho volcano blew much of its cone into the lake thousands of years ago, thereby creating the archipelago. Most of the islets are covered with vegetation. Beautiful scenery with a lot of birdlife and astonishing views over volcanoes (Ometepe Island & Mombacho) and Lake Nicaragua. The Telica volcano is located 30 kilometers from the city of Leon and belongs to the Maribios mountain chain. It is 1060 meters high and its crater has a depth of 120 meters and 700 meters of diameter. The last violent eruption was in 1948. Once arrived to the crater you can see the large amount of smoke and gases released by the volcano as well as lava or glowing stones inside.
