A day full of history, culture and nature...Kalavryta!! We will get on our Van and drive to Diakofto where a trip to your dreams awaits. Boarding the scenic train, the Cog Railway, you will go up on the green slopes of Helmos, a tour described as one of the six rarer train tours in the world. You will cross the beautiful gorge of Vouraikos and after 60 minutes you will reach the beautiful village of Kalavryta. Then we will visit the monastery of Agia Lavra which was built in the 10th century and became the center of the national liberation fight of the Greek people. After that you will have free time in the village of Kalavryta for a coffee, lunch or shopping. The last stop of the tour is “Mega Spileo” (the Great Cave), one of the most famous and ancient monasteries in Greece. According to legend, in a remote cave a miraculous carved image of Holy Mary was found by chance, made of resin and wax.

The blessed land of Olympia, as characterized by many, is a home to the most praised sanctuary of ancient Greece, dedicated to the father of the Gods, Zeus. We will depart early in the morning and drive to the north side of the Peloponnese. After about 2 hours we will reach the village of ancient Olympia. You will have time to visit the archeological site where you will find the stadium, the gymnasium and temple of Zeus. Then you will visit the museum where you will admire the famous Hermes of Praxiteles. Finally you will have free time in the village for lunch and a walk.

We’ll get on the car and first drive to the famous Corinth Canal. I will give you information about its history and take a lot of photos. Second stop will be the ancient Theater of Epidaurus. This construction is known to be the most perfect sample of an ancient theater in Greece and one of the most amazing ones in the world, from a symmetry and perfect acoustics point of view. we will do an acoustic experiment and explain the connection of theater to medical science in the ancient years. Next stop will be the picturesque and seaside city of Nafplio, the first capital of modern Greece. We will explore together the old city and discover its hidden beauties, talking at the same time about its history. We will see the historic buildings, the squares and Palamidi, the castle above the city. Finally we will visit the archaeological site of Mycenae where we will admire the tombs of the Kings, the great Walls and the museum.

The excursion will start early in the morning and after about 4 hours drive we will reach the city of Kalambaka which is located at the foot of Meteora. We will drive to the top of the rocks and visit one or two monasteries. Then we will have free time in Kalambaka for lunch. After a wonderful day we will take the road back full of images and emotions.
