Holy Island is a special place and the best way to approach it is across the sands - walking barefoot if you want to get the most from your experience! Housesteads is Britain’s most complete Roman fort, standing on the dramatic Whin Sill escarpment, flanked by stretches of Hadrian’s Wall. Discover the stories of the fort and its people in an interactive exhibition. Find out how soldiers and their families lived on this wild northern frontier of the Roman Empire. Kids will love dressing up, handling replicas of Roman objects and exploring the exhibition and fort with the help of Felix the Roman soldier. The fort and museum are an uphill walk from the car park.

The tour takes you around some of the more interesting sights of the beautiful city of Newcastle. On it you will hear about the history of the city from the Iron Age to present day, and also about some of the city's more interesting characters. The tour is approximately 3.5km (2.2 miles), does include some steps, road crossing, and some uneven pavement. Please come prepared according to the weather forecast for that day.
