Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park is the oldest proclaimed national park in Southern Africa and where the rhino populations were saved from extinction in the 1960s. It is home to the Big 5 plus the majestic endangered Wild Dogs (also known as Painted Dogs), cheetahs and other African wildlife. You will join Ashley in his closed SUV vehicle on a relaxed yet immersive African experience searching for wildlife, big and small, taking in the vast landscape, the stunning flora and fauna, and soaking up the sightings, sounds and smells of the African bush. Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve set in the heart of Zululand where Africa’s Big 5 (Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo and Rhinoceros) roam the flourishing savannah. Established in 1895 this is the oldest park in South Africa and encompasses over 98000 hectares of beautiful African landscape. This tour is in a closed vehicle. The Park contains an immense diversity of fauna and flora and is characterised by hilly topography. The list of animals at the park is long and varied. Hluhluwe Game Reserve makes up the northern top half of the reserve which is renowned for its diverse variety of bird and animal life. South of Hluhluwe is the Imfolozi Game Reserve which makes up half of the park. These two reserves were joined together to create the largest reserve in KwaZulu Natal.

Travel north into the heart of Zululand to visit the oldest game reserve in South Africa, the Hluhluwe & Imfolozi Game Reserve. Around midday, you will be treated to a light lunch at one of the picnic spots in the reserve, then continue the safari for a few hours, before returning to port, cameras filled with footage of Africa’s wildlife at its best!

Based on Durban’s Aliwal Shoal, we offer an exhilarating cageless shark snorkel, open to everyone who is comfortable floating in the water. This includes children from 10yo upwards. The trips occur early in the morning when the sharks are most active and the weather conditions are at their calmest. Spend between 45 and 60 minutes in the water with between 10 and 30 oceanic black-tip sharks on an ultimate bucket list adventure.

Climb the world famous Sani Pass to 2874 metres above sea level, stopping for lunch at the Highest Pub in Africa and then onto visiting a living Basotho Village in Skeering, Lesotho. We look forward to seeing you! After lunch the tour continues into a living Basotho village, where your experienced mountain guide will interest you on Lesotho and its people. Traditional beer and homemade bread offered on request. You will wind down the Sani Pass after this cultural experience and arrive back in Underberg between 4pm - 4:30pm, depending on the wildlife spotted along the way.

With expert guidance throughout, this Sani Pass day tour offers rich insights into Lesotho’s history, fauna, and flora. Kindly Note: Prior reservations are essential in order to have lunch at the Highest Pub in Africa during the tour. Unfortunately due to the lodges limited capacity entry is granted only to guests that will be eating with them, this also means that the lodge is unfortunately unable to accommodate guests who wish solely to have a drink, use the WIFI, or restrooms.
