Carana Beach

Beautiful beach but could be dangerous cause of strong wind and waves.

The place looks like a movie set, absolutely stunning. There were no chairs on the public beach, but we brought floats and relaxed on them. The hotel allowed us to have lunch there, albeit reluctantly and understandably due to Covid. However, the food and service were excellent. Definitely worth a visit if you get the chance.

Fantastic beach to visit. The entrance is close to the road, and there's a discreet sign that prohibits swimming. However, swimming is generally safe here; just be cautious of strong currents and avoid venturing too far from the shore.

Carana Beach is a small bay located in the north of Mahé, the largest island in the Seychelles. This beach offers stunning scenery with lush vegetation, clear waters, and pristine white sand. Accessing Carana Beach is convenient, thanks to nearby parking on the main road and a bus stop just a short walk away. Despite its accessibility, the beach is often deserted, with few tourists or locals visiting. This makes it an ideal spot for couples seeking a peaceful retreat under the tropical sun, away from the crowds. The water at Carana Beach is shallow near the shore, making it safe for swimming close to land. However, it becomes increasingly dangerous the further out you go, so it's advisable not to venture far from the shore. The absence of a coral reef means that waves can be quite high at times. The best time to visit is between October and May when the sea is calmer and currents are less strong. During the other months, the higher waves make it a good spot for surfing. Although Carana Beach may not be the most thrilling beach in the Seychelles, its picturesque and often deserted nature ensures a serene and solitary experience for visitors.
