A stunning golden sand beach located on the exposed part of the Hawke's Bay East Coast. The beach is patrolled during the summer, making it a relatively safe spot for kids. When we visited, there was a decent swell and a very high tide, which left limited space on the beach to relax without getting wet from the incoming waves. This didn't dampen our spirits, but we had to set up our spot in the lower dunes.
Our little ones enjoyed running up and down the beach, building sandcastles, and jumping in the shallow whitewater. Our oldest had a blast bodyboarding between the flags, and we plan to return when the swell is smaller so she can try surfing.
Overall, it's a fantastic beach, well worth the half-hour drive from Hastings, and a must-visit when in Hawke's Bay.
