This tour is the first of its kind on Bonaire. Guides are experienced certified Bonaire tour guides. ** All photos shown of glass were found at these sites. The Kralendijk beaches we will visit : 1. A former area of Salt Company employee homes and now a place for local fisherman. This area is where we find historic pieces of glass dating from the 1700 and 1800's. Pirate glass and pottery is common here. Marbles have been found here as well. 2. In the 1950's this was the area used for local household and commercial waste. Typical finds here are; home decor pieces, textured window glass, pirate glass along with old bottle pieces. ***Please note - shells, corals and other organic items are protected as part of the marine park. ** Please note we only take guests to safe and accessible shorelines. You will be visiting 3 of the remarkable caves here on the Island together with a Native or Local tour guide. We will pick you up at the ship's port or your hotel or apartment. Transportation from and to your accommodation is covered. The caves are located on the North side of the Island. One at the entrance of Santa Barbara and one just down the road at Hill Top; we will stop at the second Cave. This area is rich in caves. The first Cave we will be visiting has a ladder you must climb to get into Cave. When you are in the Cave, there will be bats and many unique rocks. When you are in the Cave, you will see a lot of types of limestones, as you can see in the pictures, and some of the rocks look like they have gliders on them because when you shine your light or flashlight on them, they start glowing. This tour begins in Kralendijk, our capital. Due to the natural coral structure all around the island, Kralendijk is also known as "coral dike." The highlights on the south of Bonaire is rich in history and beauty, with spectacular ocean views and historical architecture. We will stop to take photos at the Salt flats, White or Yellow Slave Huts also the lighthouse. As you travel along and pass by the big salt hills that have been a part of Bonaire's history since the 17th century on our way to the Sorobon Beach for a beach break. The entire island of Bonaire is a protected marine park, and Sorobon Beach is situated in the center of it. A bay hidden amongst mangrove trees will take your breath away. Water up to your knees runs as far as the eye can see. The seagrass pastures attract a variety of sea life, so don't be shocked if a turtle passes by slowly.
