If you go to Iceland you have to try out ice climbing on a glacier. All of our guides are local, professional mountain guides. We try to find three different areas climb on. We start with an easy ice wall to teach you basic skills to ice climb. Our guides tailor the climbs to suit you. You don’t have to know anything about climbing or be super fit to do this tour, this is a introduction tour so you don’t have to be afraid to try this out. What is Ice climbing? ice climbing is a sport/ activity that let you climb vertical ice walls and explore places you never thought existed. Our guides will also show you the wonders of the glacier, such as crevasses and moulins. What is a crevasse and moulins? crevasse is a crack on the glacier that is created by movement of the glacier. Moulins are water tunnel that goes vertical in to the glacier. This is perfect tour to see the glacier and try out some ice climbing with a local guide.

Come join us in the one of a kind natural Ice Cave. Join us on a Super Jeep up to the glacier, where you'll enter a natural ice cave. The view inside the Ice Cave is truly spectacular the combination of the colors of the ice, you will get the chance to see some amazing black ice as well as some blue ice features. The Katla Ice Cave is truly unique. The ice cave is located in Kötlujökull Glacier which is an outlet glacier of Mýrdalsjökull Glacier. Underneath the glacier waits the mighty volcano Katla where the both the glacier and the ice cave takes their name from. The tour departs from the village of Vík where you will hop on a Super Jeep that takes you up to the ice cave. There you will put on crampons and a helmet to prepare you to walk inside the natural ice cave. It’s time to jump in a super jeep, strap on your crampons and step onto the mighty Myrdalsjokull glacier. Grandiose ice walls tower over you as you walk among them to enter the magical blue and black ice dome of the outlet glacier named after the powerful volcano Katla. Prepare to have your breath taken away! We will come to a stop near the roots of Kötlujökull glacier and the view that greets us is otherworldly. We will take on our crampons and helmets, and take a short walk to the opening of the ice cave. We might need to climb a few steps on ladders to the entrance of the cave. As the natural ice cave is in constant change, conditions can be different on each tour. The climb is, however, not difficult at all, and anyone in an average physical condition should be able to climb these steps. It might look adventurous but it is not demanding at all!
