We are all aware of the historical significance of this beach during WWII. It was a moving experience for my mother and me as we quietly reflected on the memorials, plaques, and information honoring the soldiers who landed on the shores of Northern France in 1944. It is important to be able to understand both French and English to fully appreciate the stories of these brave individuals. However, time has passed and now the beach serves as a peaceful place to relax and enjoy. The memories and gratitude will always remain, and our fallen heroes can now hear the sounds of freedom and happiness from their final resting place. A heartfelt thank you to all those involved in Operation Neptune and Operation Overlord.

This beach is not the right location to view World War remains. Look for "Sword Beach Queen Red" to find the correct spot.

The beach is very nice, spacious, and comfortable.

It was hard to locate the beach as Google Maps led us to a caravan park. There were no signs or information available. We managed to find a section of the beach near a camper-van rest area, but we suspect there is much more to explore. It is disappointing to see the neglect of British beaches compared to those in America and Canada, as a British person, this is truly shameful to admit.

As a WWII history enthusiast, the highlight of our 10-day Normandy-Brittany tour was visiting the landing beaches. To properly explore all 5 beaches, we split them into 2 days. Our first stop was Sword beach, the most eastern and closest to our base in Caen (a 20-minute drive). Unfortunately, it was a major letdown. When we searched for Sword beach on Google maps, it led us to an unremarkable spot on the beach. Thankfully, we spotted a sun clock and Churchill tank at a small roundabout, indicating we were in the right area. However, there was a lack of information about the landing sites, directions, or monuments, so we had to drive around and ask locals for guidance. After visiting all 5 landing beaches, it's clear that Sword and Gold beaches are the most neglected in terms of signage, tribute, and respect for the soldiers who fought there. In contrast, Juno, Omaha, and Utah beaches were well-maintained and provided a pleasant and informative experience, as detailed in other reviews.
